The Space

Here at The Alternate Root we offer a one-of-a-kind setting for couples seeking warmth, character, and timeless charm. Housed within a beautifully restored historic building, our venue features soaring, pressed metal ceilings that draw the eye upward and set a breathtaking backdrop for your day.

With its grand indoor space full of texture and history, it’s perfect for hosting your reception,—whatever your vision, the space brings a sense of depth and meaning to your celebration. At The Alternate Root, old-world beauty meets thoughtful hospitality, creating a space where love stories are honoured and memories are made to last.

Our Inclusions &
package options

Rather then offering limited or specific packages we aim to cater to your personal needs and tastes. As such your event costing will be built alongside your vision.

We build your event through the following process:

  1. Choose your date. Lock in your date with a $500 deposit (the deposit comes off the final cost of your event)

  2. Choose your meal options; 2 course alternate drop meal? Canapés or grazing boards? A dessert only event?? You decide. The “meals” section gives a rough idea on costing per person for these options. The final cost will depend on what you personally want to see on your menu and how many guests you invite.

  3. The bar. Are you laying down a set tab for the night? Bubbles on arrival? Let us build the drinks menu to your specifications.

  4. Space set up and decorations. Long tables to create a feast? Traditional bridal table up the front? Dance floor and lounge vibes? We can create pretty well any set up that suits our existing tables and chairs. Your florist is most welcome to come and set up the decorations or just drop them off and we will put them out for you.

The Bar

For the bar people will either set up a bar tab or have guests purchase drinks individually. We are also able to curate a cocktail list and order in your favourite beers for the night!

FAQ’s

  • We can comfortably host up to 100 seated guests or 120 standing for a cocktail-style reception. The space works beautifully for both intimate gatherings and slightly larger celebrations.

  • We currently only offer reception hosting at our venue.

  • Absolutely. We welcome florists, photographers, stylists and other creatives of your choosing. We also have a list of trusted local vendors if you need recommendations. Food must be catered in house by us.

  • Yes, we offer in-house catering with a range of menu styles including canapés, grazing tables, alternate drop meals, and dessert options. Menus can be tailored to suit your taste and dietary needs.

  • We offer flexible bar options—choose from full bar service, drinks packages and bar tabs. Let’s chat about what suits your celebration best.

    We offer specialty cocktail menus crafted especially for you by our incredible cocktail artisans.

    If tap beer is your thing we partner with New England Brewing Co or Welder’s Dog to brings you your fav beers on tap.

  • Yes, we do! With space for a dance floor a DJ or a band is a must! We’ll work with your entertainer of choice to set the vibes just right.

  • The venue will be exclusively yours from 1 hour prior to the reception start time. We will have everything fully prepped and set up for you. So just drop off your desired decorations and let us bring it all to life. As with all good things, the party will need to come to an end by midnight to accomodate. our liquor licence.

  • Yes, we are wheelchair accessible and have accessible restroom facilities. If you have any specific requirements, we’re happy to assist.

  • Our menu’s are fully customisable to your and your guests dietary requirements.

  • Initial venue hire is $1000. This is reduced in certain circumstances and depending on the scope of your event. Talk to us about the variability in this cost as there is a sliding scale and a removal of venue hire fee once a certain spend is reached.

  • Venue hire includes tables, chairs, glassware, service staff, bar staff, kitchen staff, setup and pack-down (including table stylings and decorations as provided by you). We can also assist with styling or recommend local companies.
